Doctors doing research

Here, groundbreaking research is at the core of our mission.

For many children with debilitating diseases, research breakthroughs may be their families’ single greatest hope.

Children’s Hospital Colorado is pioneering new treatments and cures with the purpose of eradicating childhood disease and transforming pediatric medicine — giving all kids a chance at a healthier future.

Thanks to donors, we are making new discoveries that advance pediatric medicine in life-changing ways.

As the Director of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, Dr. Michael Verneris and his team are studying therapies that help patients’ immune systems to recognize and defeat cancer cells.

“Some of my best research questions have come from parents. If I don’t know the answer to their questions, we go back to the lab and try to figure it out.”

Transforming Pediatric Health Care Through Research

When you invest in research at Children’s Hospital Colorado, you help to advance new treatments and save lives. With our partners on the Anschutz Medical Campus, our team works every day to find more effective, less invasive ways to treat pediatric illness and disease.

Nationwide, research funding is scarcer than ever — especially within the field of pediatrics. As federal research funding continues to decline, donors have stepped in to help.

Thanks to community support, we’re able to fill the funding gap and continually identify promising new therapies. Without donors, many of our research programs wouldn’t exist — nor would the new treatments, cures and innovations our team has already discovered.

Your support funds groundbreaking discoveries that make a transformative difference for patients at Children’s Colorado and worldwide. Together, we are committed to advancing discoveries that minimize side effects, heal disease and profoundly improve children’s lives.

3 Ways Donors Make a Difference

1

Filling the Funding Gap

Between budget cuts and inflation, research funding is scarcer than ever — especially within the field of pediatrics. But thanks to donors, we’re able to fill the funding gap and continually identify promising new therapies. Without donors, many of our research programs wouldn’t exist — nor would the new treatments, cures and innovations our team has already discovered.

2

Supporting Cutting-Edge Treatments

Our physician-scientists continually have new ideas for improving child health. But researchers need data and resources to test new hypotheses so they can translate these ideas to patients. Without sufficient early funding, it’s almost impossible to secure bigger grants for transformative research. Our donors enable early-career researchers to pursue cutting-edge ideas, which can result in pioneering treatments that save lives.

3

Encouraging Innovation

If someone has an idea that can save a child’s life, we will do everything we can to turn that idea into a reality today. That’s why Children’s Colorado created the Center for Innovation, a leading health innovation hub that offers caregivers and entrepreneurs comprehensive resources to launch new ideas. In a few short years, the Center and its partners have helped to launch several new medical devices and digital health technologies that are improving kids’ lives.
