September 10, 2026
Children’s Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs announced today that it has joined the Golisano Children’s Alliance, a national initiative dedicated to elevating pediatric healthcare across the United States.
Children’s Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs will add “Golisano Children’s Hospital” to its name, in recognition of a transformative gift from entrepreneur and philanthropist Tom Golisano

The invitation to the Alliance includes a historic $40 million gift from entrepreneur, philanthropist and civic leader Tom Golisano that will expand pediatric care for children and families across Southern Colorado.

In recognition of Mr. Golisano’s investment, the largest philanthropic gift in Children’s Colorado’s history, Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Colorado Springs hospital will be renamed Children’s Hospital Colorado, Golisano Children’s Hospital, Colorado Springs, effective immediately.
The Golisano Children’s Alliance provides strategic funding and brings together leading children’s hospitals to expand services, strengthen collaboration, and to ensure children and families have access to the highest quality medical care close to home.
Mr. Golisano’s transformational gift is a defining moment for Colorado Springs and a catalyst for our expansion of pediatric care across Southern Colorado. When we opened this hospital for the community, we did so with a bold vision: to bring the highest level of pediatric care closer to home for the children and families of Southern Colorado. This extraordinary gift accelerates our ability to meet heightened community demand and serve thousands more children each year with the expert care they need and deserve.

This gift is dedicated exclusively to Colorado Springs and will accelerate the vision that guided the hospital’s founding, enabling the physical expansion of clinical programs and services to meet the region’s growing pediatric healthcare needs. Planned capital projects will include additional surgical capacity, outpatient and treatment spaces, inpatient beds, and other facilities designed to reduce wait times and improve access to care.
Mr. Golisano was moved by the unique attributes of the Colorado Springs community, including its leadership, military service, and commitment to excellence. He expressed that Children’s Colorado was worthy of his support because the hospital serves children from across Southern Colorado, neighboring states, rural communities, mountain towns and military families. Almost 70 percent of the patients cared for by the hospital rely on Medicaid, TRICARE or other government-supported insurance coverage.
“This investment is intended to elevate pediatric care by advancing services, expanding programs, integrating new medical technologies and fostering collaboration to enable multidisciplinary care that addresses children’s health needs,” said Golisano. “With this shared vision, the hospital will strengthen its position in pediatric medicine, providing life-changing care of the highest quality with dignity to children and their families close to home.”
Children’s Colorado opened its Colorado Springs hospital in 2019 as Southern Colorado’s first pediatric-only hospital. Prior to its opening, Colorado Springs was one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country without a dedicated children’s hospital, and many families traveled hours to access specialized pediatric care.
Since opening, the hospital has seen significant growth in demand for pediatric care across Southern Colorado. From 2019 to 2025, emergency department visits more than tripled, surgical cases more than doubled and unique patient visits nearly tripled, underscoring the hospital’s expanding role as a regional destination for specialized pediatric care.
“Tom Golisano’s historic gift is a profound expression of confidence in our mission as a nonprofit hospital, our team members and the children and families in Southern Colorado,” said Jena Hausmann, president and CEO of Children’s Hospital Colorado. “He has dedicated his life to creating opportunities and improving lives, and we are deeply honored to be part of that commitment. Through his philanthropic investment and our participation in the Golisano Children’s Alliance, we will ensure that more children receive the expert care they need, closer to home.”
